photoblog

Photo-du-jour:  The 365 challenge: to post a new photo everyday, seven days a week, for a whole year. This is a self-assigned project. The images are not cropped. Contrast control and toning are the only manipulations I will allow myself on this project - 16 January 2009

hiatus

Tomorrow i leave for a journey that will take me around the world over a two month period. I will have to resume this project once I am back in Hong Kong.

finally had to give in

Update: It has been more than three months that the viewfinder in my camera broke (mirror fell off). I thought this would fit nicely with the concept of 'shooting blind' but in the end I really need to have this camera fixed so that I can use it for all the other projects. So I finally had to give in and took it to have it fixed.  That means that for the next week or so, I will either have to use an older camera (lesser quality) or go back to shooting film in order to maintain the same 'look' of the series.

fix the camera or continue shooting?

Update: I just can't find the time to take the camera in for repairs. I am sure it will take a few days to say the least. I start to ponder if it is more important to fix the camera and break the 365 day series or to keep shooting.  I can't afford to buy a new camera, renting one for a few days is an option but then It seems like I can continue working this way indefinitely, perhaps this is a good thing for this project, it will force me to shoot the entire project without looking through the viewfinder. The only downside being that I can't use the camera for anything else.

shooting blind

Update:  as of last week, my DSLR's mirror fell off and I was too busy to get it fixed. Since I shoot mostly from the hip, I continue to work on the project. I can no longer check my exposure meter so now I have to guess the apperture/shutter speed combinations as well as the focusing distance and the framing/composition.
